Mary was a person used to waking up. Every human who is still alive is used to waking up, whether it be through alarms, natural light, light taps on the shoulder by a loved one, one could say that waking up on a daily basis is a necessary aspect of being human, or an alive one that is. But, nonetheless, Mary had become so used to waking up that she had it down to a routine. Every morning when her alarm went off promptly at 6:37AM Monday through Friday, she would jerk awake. Though Mary, as she does every other morning, had routinely set her alarm for 6:37 so she would have 10 minutes to get out of bed, 5 minutes to get changed, 8 minutes to take care of proper hygiene, 10 minutes to prepare and consume a balanced breakfast that she had forgotten to prep the Sunday prior, 10 minutes to walk to the gym, 30-42 minutes to spend at the gym, before calming heading to work by 8:30AM. she snoozed her alarm and dozed off into a pleasant slumber for an additional hour minutes before jerking awake, spending she snoozed her alarm and slept in for an additional 1 hour and 15 minutes before she flew out of bed, threw clothes on, forgot to take care of her personal hygiene, didn’t have time to eat breakfast, didn’t have time to go to the gym, but arrived to work not a minute before 8:30AM where Mary kindly smiled at Maureen, her ever perfect coworker, pretending like she truly had it all together and truly worked out and truly cared about personal hygiene because stumbling into her cubical (the forth on the right side) at her big, important business and realizing that both her shirt and pants were on backwards and inside out. Yes, Mary was quite used to waking up as it is something that she has done every single day of her entire life. When Mary left her cubicle at approximately 8:42 that morning, only about 40 minutes after waking up, she smiled at her coworker Maureen as she talked about her new eggs souffle recipe that she cooks for her 4-year-old triplets every day before school, and her 2 hours spent lifting kettlebells. Mary laughed and nodded in agreement, hoping Maureen would notice her unkempt hair or breath that likely smelled of last night. Sighing slightly as she returned to her usually cubicle that was 4 desks to the left, Maureen returned to her cubicle and looked at her delicately framed photo of her twins wondering how many more times this week they would eat frozen chocolate chip waffles in the car, as they sped down the road to daycare with wild, frazzled, trying not to be late as their mother had slept through her alarm and was loudly awoken by two jumping, annoying toddlers. Yes, Maureen was quite used to waking up in the morning, as we all are.
